How to Unblock a Number on a Samsung Galaxy Phone

Correct your differences and unblock a number on your Samsung phone


Samsung lets you block contacts on the best Galaxy phones. When things go wrong with someone, you can block their number on your phone to avoid calls and messages. If you accidentally blocked an unknown number or settled disputes with your friend or family, you need to unblock their number on your Galaxy phone.


Blocking a number can be useful when unknown callers are constantly calling or texting to sell their products, credit cards, and other useless stuff. You may also have blocked annoying friends or family members. While dodging messages is helpful, you might miss important calls in the process.

If you saved the number to Contacts, use the app to unlock it.

  1. Open the default One UI Contacts app on your Galaxy phone.
  2. Tap the magnifying glass in the top right corner and find the name of the contact you want to unblock.
  3. Select After in the lower right corner.

  4. Faucet Unblock Contacts.

Did you block an unknown number in the Recents menu? Follow these step-by-step instructions to unlock it:

  1. Open the Phone app on a Samsung phone.
  2. Tap on an unknown number and select it I button (information).
  3. Faucet Unlock in the bottom menu bar.

Unblock a number from the Messages app

You can view all blocked numbers from the Messages app and unblock the necessary ones.

  1. Launch it posts app on your Samsung phone.
  2. Tap the three-dot icon in the upper right corner and open Settings.

  3. Faucet Block numbers and spam.
  4. Open the Block numbers menu.

  5. In the list of blocked numbers on your phone, tap the remove (-) next to a number you want to unblock.

A user interface will not ask for confirmation and will simply unlock it to receive calls and messages.

Use the Samsung Phone app to unblock a number

You can also access the same list of blocked numbers from the default Phone app.

  1. Open the Call app on your Galaxy phone.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu in the upper right corner and open Settings.

  3. Select Block numbers.
  4. Check the same list of blocked numbers. Tap the red icon next to a number to unblock it.

Unblock unknown and private numbers

Samsung provides an option to block unknown and private numbers. If you have enabled the filter, disable it by following the steps below.

  1. Open the Block numbers menu in the Phone app (refer to the steps above)
  2. Switch off Block unknown/private numbers.

If you receive unwanted calls from private numbers, access the same menu to reactivate the spam filter.

Disable spam protection

While the default caller ID and spam protection are helpful, it can be aggressive at times. You can turn it off from the Call Settings menu.

  1. Head toward Call settings on a Galaxy phone (refer to the steps above).
  2. Switch off Caller ID and spam protection.

Unlock a number from third-party apps

So far, we have talked about how to unblock a number using the default Messages, Phone, and Contacts app on your Samsung phone. If you use a third-party service like Truecaller to manage your calls and contacts, the steps to unblock a number differ on them. Let’s take Truecaller as an example here.

  1. Open Truecaller on your phone.
  2. Go to the Blocking menu.
  3. Switch off Block top spammers, Block hidden numbers, Block numbers from foreign countriesand Block numbers that are not in the phonebook.

  4. Scroll to block list and unlock the relevant numbers in the next menu.

Start getting calls from relevant numbers
